WRHS-AGT-02
Hand selected in Brazil, this large agate freeform was cut and semi polished to open up the sparkling druzy inside.
The close ups show the natural agate formations along the sides and a top left raw and natural, so you see both the polished agate and the untouched rock. At over 119 pounds and nearly two feet across, it holds its own on the floor of a large room, on a low plinth, on a lobby table or in a garden room out of the weather. Agate forms when silica settles in layers inside rock cavities, and those layers are what you see where it was cut. It ships in a custom crate. For a home with high ceilings or an office entrance, it makes a strong first impression. The agate you see is exactly the agate you will receive.
It is about 1 foot 10.25 inches by 1 foot 7.5 inches and 9.5 inches thick, and it weighs over 119 pounds.
Agate is a banded, translucent form of microcrystalline quartz. Its bands form as silica is deposited in layers inside rock cavities by groundwater of changing composition. It is hard and takes a high polish, which is why it has been carved into cabochons, beads, bookends and carvings for thousands of years.
Stone Meaning: Agate is traditionally associated with balance and stability.
