A grape agate cluster is the kind of piece people notice from across the room and then walk over to touch.
Tiny rounded orbs cover this cluster, each one a small sphere of chalcedony, and together they build up into grape bunches you can trace with a finger. At about the length of a palm it fits a curio shelf or desk without crowding, and its texture invites people to pick it up. Grape agate is often purple but can show blue, white, green or gray grains, so check the photos for this piece's tones. A good gift for anyone who loves purple stones or unusual mineral textures.
Grape agate is botryoidal chalcedony, a microcrystalline quartz that grows in rounded clusters of tiny spheres; botryoidal comes from the Greek word for a bunch of grapes. Its purple color comes from trace iron. It is not true agate because it lacks banding, and most of it on the market comes from Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Stone Meaning: Grape agate is traditionally associated with calm and self confidence.
