Small agate geode slices, most with an open crystal center, carry a shiny angel aura coating on one side for an iridescent shimmer. The other side is left uncoated. Each slice measures about 0.5 to 1.75 inches by 0.375 to 1 inch and 0.25 inches thick.
A hole is drilled near the top, running sideways through the edge of the slice, so you can string it on thin gauge wire or cord. Use them as pendants on chain or beaded necklaces, in earrings, or in mobiles and suncatchers. Choose 1, 5 or 10; larger packs lower the price per bead.
The color is a thin coating, so it stays brightest when protected from scratches, perfume and harsh cleaners. Store it separately and wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Each slice weighs about 5 to 15 grams and varies in size, shape and color.
Aura finishes are made by vapor deposition, which applies a metal film only a micron or two thick to the stone in a vacuum chamber. The thin film creates iridescent color, and because it is a surface coating it can wear with rough handling. Agate is a banded variety of microcrystalline quartz rated 7 on the Mohs scale.
