Agate on the outside, a sparkle of purple druzy where the stone opens up: this polished tower point gives you two looks in one stone.
Turn it one way and you see smooth, polished agate; turn it again and the amethyst druzy catches the light in hundreds of tiny points. The flat cut base keeps it standing upright, so it works on an office desk, beside a monitor or in a bookcase niche where a lamp can reach the crystal side. It is a solid, hand filling piece rather than a mini tower, which makes it a good first larger stone for someone moving past tumbled crystals.
Agate is a translucent, banded variety of microcrystalline quartz. Its bands form as silica is deposited layer by layer inside a rock cavity, and some cavities end up lined with sparkling druzy crystals. Agate is slightly porous, so it takes dye well, which is how most vividly colored agate in the trade is made.
Stone Meaning: Agate is traditionally associated with balance and stability.
