Real sparkle in the middle and enough size to anchor a shelf: that is what this agate geode brings.
Crack open a geode and you never know what you will find. In this one the hollow is lined with sparkling druzy and calcite, and the polished agate rim gives it a clean, finished edge. Turn it over and the back is natural tan, gray and brown rock, a reminder that all that crystal formed inside an ordinary looking stone. It is big enough to show well on a coffee table or a bookshelf at eye level, and it makes an easy gift for anyone who likes science, the outdoors or simply something unusual to pick up and turn over in the hand.
Agate is a translucent, banded variety of microcrystalline quartz. Its bands form as silica is deposited layer by layer inside a rock cavity, and some cavities end up lined with sparkling druzy crystals. Agate is slightly porous, so it takes dye well, which is how most vividly colored agate in the trade is made.
Stone Meaning: Agate is traditionally associated with balance and stability.
