DOOAK-S33-23
Closed, it shows only the geode's outer surface; lift the top half and polished agate bands and druzy crystal appear. This geode box is one of a kind.
The halves were cut from one geode, so they line up when closed. Inside is room for a ring, a pair of earrings, a folded note or a small heirloom. On a dresser or bookshelf it reads as a mineral specimen first and a box second, which keeps whatever is inside out of sight. It works well for a proposal, an anniversary or a graduation keepsake.
A geode begins as a cavity in rock, often a gas bubble in volcanic lava, that mineral rich water slowly lines with agate bands and crystal. Cut in two and polished, the halves fit back together into a natural box. Agate is a banded form of microcrystalline quartz, hard enough to handle daily use as a keepsake box.
Stone Meaning: Agate is traditionally associated with balance and stability.
