About Aura Howlite

Howlite is a calcium borosilicate mineral, naturally white with fine gray to black veins. It is soft, about 3.5 on the Mohs scale, and porous, which is why it is so often dyed. Aura finishes are made by vapor deposition, which bonds a metal film only a micron or two thick to the surface and creates the iridescent effect.
