HE-CRY136
Pink and green tourmaline sitting in clear crystal quartz is about as classic a mineral pairing as it gets.
This specimen runs about 7 inches long, with saturated pink and green tones set into a crystal quartz matrix. The quartz frames the color and catches light around it, so it looks especially good on a lit shelf or near a window. It is long and fairly low, about 4.5 inches high, which suits a mantel, a console or a wide bookshelf. Watermelon tourmaline grows with a pink core and a green rim, so each crystal holds both colors in one. For an October birthday or an eighth anniversary, few mineral gifts fit better. The specimen in the photos is the exact one you will get.
Approximately 7 inches long, 2.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches high. The ruler photo shows the scale.
Tourmaline is a large group of boron silicate minerals, and the lithium bearing species elbaite is behind many colored gem tourmalines. Watermelon tourmaline is zoned, with a pink core and a green rim; manganese produces the pinks and iron the greens. Tourmaline is an October birthstone and the traditional gem for an eighth anniversary.
Stone Meaning: Watermelon tourmaline is traditionally associated with harmony and balance.
