Septarian began as a cracked mineral nodule whose cracks filled with calcite and aragonite, and polishing it into a heart shows off that bold pattern of yellow, brown and gray.
Choose a small heart to carry or a larger one for a desk or shelf. The earthy palette suits rustic and modern rooms alike, and a septarian heart is a grounded, meaningful gift for a dad, a hiker or anyone who loves unusual stones. You choose the exact heart from the photos.
Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Heart 01 is about 1.825 by 1.75 inches, heart 02 about 3.125 by 2.825 inches and 180 grams, and heart 03 about 3 by 2.75 inches and 175 grams.
Septarian nodules are carbonate rich concretions that cracked as they formed. The cracks later filled with minerals: typically yellow calcite, with brown aragonite lines and gray limestone or chalcedony. The name comes from the Latin septum, meaning partition, and they are geological formations rather than fossils.
Stone Meaning: Septarian is traditionally associated with grounding and calm communication.
