Trolleite is a blue phosphate mineral few people have heard of, and these polished moons are a lovely way to meet it.
The color runs from light blue to deep blue with white inclusions scattered through it, and each crescent is carved and polished smooth by artisans in Brazil, where this material comes from. Moon 1 is the smaller at about 3 inches, and moon 2 is about 3.5 inches and a little thicker, so either one sits easily on a nightstand, a desk or a small shelf, or rests in your hand. Our supplier describes the material as trolleite with quartz, lazulite and scorzalite, which explains the mix of blues and white. A blue moon makes a thoughtful gift for a moon lover, a new graduate or a friend who collects unusual stones. You choose the exact piece from the photos.
Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Moon 1 is about 3 by 2.5 by 0.75 inches; moon 2 is about 3.5 by 2.75 by 1 inches.
Trolleite is an aluminum phosphate mineral, light blue to light green, first described from the Vastana mine in Skane, Sweden, and named for the Swedish chemist Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister. Lazulite, often found with it, is an azure to sky blue phosphate that is easily confused with lapis lazuli but is chemically different.
Stone Meaning: Trolleite is traditionally associated with calm and emotional balance.
