Septarian starts as a nodule that cracked as it formed, and carving one into a flame lays that whole history open.
This flame tower mixes yellow calcite, brown aragonite and gray limestone with natural inclusions, and the polish brings each of those materials up to a brilliant shine. The curving flame shape shows the patterns from many angles, so it looks different from the front, back and sides, which the photos show. At about 7.125 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep, it is a solid focal point for a desk, a bookshelf or a mantel, and it is substantial enough to hold its own beside larger decor. The cut base lets it stand upright without a stand. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who loves earthy colors or for a new office. This is the exact flame shown.
The flame is about 7.125 by 5 by 4.25 inches. Look at the ruler photo for scale.
Septarian is a concretion: a nodule of mudstone that cracked as it formed, with the cracks later filled by calcite, often yellow. The name comes from the Latin septum, for partition.
Stone Meaning: Septarian is traditionally associated with patience and grounding.
