Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu deity honored at the start of new ventures, is hand engraved here in brassy, metallic pyrite.
Each carving shows him seated with one leg folded and the other resting on the ground, the posture known in Indian art as lalitasana. The options differ in size and in the shade of the pyrite: C is the smallest and slimmest, while B and D are broader and thicker, with D the deepest of the three. All are small enough for a home altar, a puja shelf, a desk or a car console. They make a meaningful gift for a new business, a new home or the start of any big project.
Pyrite is iron sulfide, the most common sulfide mineral, nicknamed fool's gold for its brassy color and metallic luster. Its name comes from the Greek for stone that strikes fire, because it sparks against steel. Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles and patron of beginnings, which is why he is honored before new undertakings.
Stone Meaning: Pyrite is traditionally associated with confidence and abundance.
