White, cone shaped fossils of an ancient sea creature are set in the dark limestone of these small polished eggs.
Rest one on a small stand on a desk or shelf, carry it as a smooth hand stone, or give it to a fossil lover or science fan. Each egg shows the fossils in a different arrangement, which you can compare in the labeled photos.
Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Eggs are about 1.625 to 2.875 inches long, and each size is listed below. Stand not included.
Orthoceras was an extinct nautiloid cephalopod with a long, straight shell; the name means straight horn. The true genus dates to the Ordovician, and many decorative straight shelled fossils are related orthoceratoids. Nautiloids are an ancient lineage related to the modern nautilus.
