LB-BOWL-05
Every long dining table needs a centerpiece, and a freeform Mexican onyx bowl gives you one made from natural banded stone.
The colors run from yellow and white to dark brown, and the smooth matte finish lets the natural pattern speak without glare. At more than 35 inches long and under 10 inches wide, it is shaped for the middle of a dining table, a sideboard, a kitchen island or a long console in an entry or office. It is a decorative bowl: fill it with stones, dried botanicals or seasonal decor rather than food. Mexican onyx is banded calcite, also called onyx marble, which gives it soft, layered color that no two bowls share. At about 11 kilograms it feels solid and substantial, and it makes a memorable housewarming or wedding gift. This is the exact bowl shown.
The bowl is about 35.25 inches long, 9.75 inches wide and 5.25 inches tall, and it weighs about 11.34 kilograms (25 pounds).
Mexican onyx is banded calcite, sometimes called onyx marble, rather than true onyx, which is banded chalcedony. Its soft layered bands come from mineral deposits building up over time. Calcite is soft and reacts with acids, so keep it away from acidic cleaners and harder objects.
Stone Meaning: Onyx is traditionally associated with strength and steadiness.
