There is a lot of stone here: a large mahogany obsidian point, semi polished, in brick red with black specks.
At about 12 inches tall and 6 inches wide but only 2 inches thick, it has a broad, flat profile that shows off the color across a wide face, which works well leaning on a bookshelf back, standing on a mantel or displayed on a plate stand. The semi polished surface keeps some natural character while bringing out the contrast between the red brown and black. Mahogany obsidian is natural volcanic glass, so the colors are part of the stone itself. There is a large chip on the tip, so please look closely at the photos before you buy. It makes a memorable gift for someone who prefers warm, earthy stones. This is the exact point shown.
The point is about 12 by 6 by 2 inches. Look at the ruler photo for scale.
Obsidian is natural volcanic glass that forms when lava cools too quickly for crystals to grow. Mahogany obsidian swirls black glass with reddish brown, and as with all obsidian, it breaks with a conchoidal fracture, which can leave sharp edges.
Stone Meaning: Mahogany obsidian is traditionally associated with strength and grounding.
