HE-CRY153
This large crystal brings together three features in one piece: smoky quartz, elestial alligator growth, and gold and black rutile.
Elestial, or alligator, quartz has layered, terraced faces that form when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, and that ribbed texture gives this crystal its character. It was hand selected on a buying trip to northern Brazil, and the black rutile appears both inside the stone and on its surface, with fibrous inclusions that shimmer when light hits them. At about 8.25 inches long, 4.5 inches wide and 4.625 inches high, and almost 6 pounds, it rests as a substantial horizontal piece on a desk, a coffee table or in a display cabinet. The close up photo shows the rutile and surface texture in detail. It is a serious gift for a quartz collector or a milestone such as a retirement. This is the exact crystal shown.
The crystal is about 8.25 inches long by 4.5 inches wide by 4.625 inches high and weighs almost 6 pounds, about 2.7 kilograms. Look at the ruler photo for scale.
Elestial is a market name for skeletal quartz, which forms when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, leaving layered, terraced faces sometimes called alligator skin. Smoky quartz gets its brown color from natural radiation acting on trace aluminum, and rutile adds fine needle like inclusions.
Stone Meaning: Smoky quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and calm.
