Here is a crystal ball that does not need anything else on the shelf: a large sphere of quartz threaded with black tourmaline.
The needles cross at different depths, so turning it slowly reveals new lines and clusters each time. Clear and milky areas of quartz give the tourmaline a changing backdrop. At about 5.5 inches across, it is a fine centerpiece for a living room, a study or a reception area, and a striking gift for a collector, a new office or anyone who loves black and white. This is the exact sphere shown.
The sphere is about 5.5 by 5.5 by 5.5 inches. Check the hand and measurement photos for scale, and use side lighting to bring the needles forward.
About Tourmalinated Quartz
Tourmalinated quartz is quartz that grew around needles and rods of black tourmaline, the variety called schorl. It is a close cousin of rutilated quartz, which holds golden rutile needles instead, and the inclusions are what make every piece different. Both minerals are hard, and quartz takes a bright glassy polish.
Stone Meaning: Black tourmaline in quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and clarity.
Add a Sphere Stand
A sphere this size deserves a sturdy base that keeps it steady and shows it off. Browse our crystal sphere stands and holders and choose a metal or brass style sized for its diameter, or a carved wood stand for a warmer look.
