Elephants stand for wisdom, strength and good fortune in many cultures, and this one is carved from soft, satiny white selenite with engraved details.
Place it on a bookshelf, desk or altar, or give it to an elephant lover, a graduate or a friend starting a new chapter. Its pale, silky surface seems to hold the light, which makes it lovely next to a window or candle. Selenite's soft white also pairs well with almost any color scheme, and a small elephant fits easily on a crowded shelf.
The elephant is about 2.1 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 1.8 inches thick. This is a stock photo, so carving details and markings vary slightly from piece to piece.
Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum, hydrous calcium sulfate. It is very soft, rating 2 on the Mohs scale, and much of what is sold as selenite is satin spar, the fibrous, silky form of gypsum that gives carvings their soft sheen.
Symbolism: Elephants are traditionally associated with wisdom and good fortune.
