The calcite among its purple crystals gives this natural amethyst cluster extra sparkle.
It is about 7 inches long and 4.5 inches wide but only about 2.825 inches tall, so it lies low and wide on a shelf, a coffee table or a desk. At about 1.47 kilograms, it feels solid in the hand without being hard to move. The front, back and side views show the shape, the close up shows the calcite and amethyst together, and the in hand photo gives a quick sense of scale. Amethyst is the February birthstone, so it works for a birthday, a housewarming or a thank you gift. The cluster you see in the photos is the one we ship.
This piece runs about 7 by 4.5 by 2.825 inches and weighs about 1.47 kilograms.
Amethyst is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation. Calcite is calcium carbonate, often found alongside amethyst. It is much softer than quartz, at 3 on the Mohs scale, and powdered calcite fizzes in dilute acid.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
