Open the lid and an amethyst crystal pocket appears inside a speckled, metallic shell.
The geode has one cut line that forms the lid, with a natural rough bottom and a smooth polished outer surface given a titanium coating. Inside, various crystal formations of amethyst line the hollow. It is sold as is because the lid does not stay on; it slides off rather than locking in place, and you receive both halves. For display on a dresser or vanity, with the lid set beside it or resting loosely on top, that matters little, and it holds a ring or a pair of earrings.
A geode starts as a hollow pocket in rock that slowly fills with crystal as mineral rich water deposits minerals inside. Titanium finishes are made by vapor deposition, which bonds a metal film only a micron or two thick to the stone in a vacuum chamber, creating an iridescent surface. Because it is a surface film, it can wear with abrasion.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
