Fine English fluorite does not have to be big to make an impression.
This green cubic fluorite comes from the Harvest Pocket of the Lady Annabella Mine in England, with translucent deep green cubes on a dark brown matrix. It is a slimmer, lighter specimen at about 4 inches long and 185 grams, which makes it easy to fit into a cabinet, a specimen shelf or a desk display, and the in hand photo shows its true scale. Having a recorded pocket name gives it provenance that collectors appreciate. Shine a UV flashlight on fluorite and many pieces respond with a glow, a fun extra to explore. It is a fine gift for a new collector starting an English fluorite drawer. This is the exact specimen shown.
The specimen is about 4 by 2.375 by 1.25 inches and weighs about 0.185 kilograms.
Fluorite is calcium fluoride, the mineral that defines hardness 4 on the Mohs scale, and it occurs in a wide range of colors. The Lady Annabella Mine sits in Weardale, County Durham, England, in the former Eastgate Quarry, and has been worked for fluorite specimens by UK Mining Ventures since July 2020. Named pockets in its Bull Vein are recorded for the specimens they produce.
Stone Meaning: Fluorite is traditionally associated with focus and clarity.
