When a collection needs one piece that stops people at the door, a giant elestial amethyst cluster does the job.
This one was mined in the Bahia region of Brazil, an area known for high quality amethyst, and it is shown in its raw form so the layered, terraced elestial crystal faces stay intact. Elestial growth gives the crystals a ribbed, stepped look that is different from the smooth points of an ordinary cluster, and the close up photo shows the detail. At about 12 by 11 inches and nearly 10 inches tall, it is a centerpiece for a living room, a meditation room, a library or a shop display, and it reads clearly from across a room. It is a serious gift for a lifelong collector or a February birthday milestone. This is the exact cluster shown.
The cluster is about 12 by 11 by 9.75 inches tall and weighs about 36 pounds (16.3 kilograms).
Elestial is a crystal market name for skeletal quartz, which forms in unusually saturated conditions when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, leaving the faces recessed and layered. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, colored by trace iron exposed to natural radiation, and Brazil is among its largest producers.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
