Have you ever looked closely at a crystal and seen terraces and windows instead of smooth faces? That layered growth is what makes elestial amethyst, and this cluster shows it in deep purple with white and grayish purple zones.
Elestial, also called skeletal quartz, forms when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, leaving recessed, stepped surfaces that catch light in many small planes. Turn it under a lamp and the texture keeps changing. The formations on this cluster are natural, shaped only by how the crystals grew. At about 7.5 inches long, it is a good size for a desk, a nightstand or a shelf where it can be seen up close. It makes a thoughtful gift for a February birthday or for a collector who already owns standard amethyst clusters and wants something with more texture. This is the exact cluster shown.
The cluster is about 7.5 by 4.25 by 3.5 inches. The photo of it in hand shows the scale.
Elestial is a crystal market name for skeletal quartz, also called window or fenster quartz. It forms in unusually saturated conditions, when crystal edges grow faster than the faces, so the faces end up recessed and ribbed. In amethyst, the purple comes from trace iron exposed to natural radiation.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
