A small golden geode fragment covered in crystal points, this raw citrine cluster glows in honey to amber tones. Each piece measures about 43 to 58 millimeters by 27 to 40 millimeters.
It is an affordable way to add warm color to a crystal collection, a desk or a windowsill, and several look great grouped together. It also makes a thoughtful small gift for a November birthday. This citrine is amethyst that has been heat treated to its golden color, often called golden amethyst.
Citrine is yellow to orange quartz. Naturally colored citrine is rare, so most citrine clusters on the market are light amethyst from Brazil that has been heated until the purple turns gold. Like all quartz it rates 7 on the Mohs scale. Citrine is a November birthstone.
Stone Meaning: Citrine is traditionally associated with optimism and abundance.
Is this natural citrine? It is natural amethyst that has been heat treated to a golden citrine color.
Why do some citrine clusters have white bases? Heat-treated amethyst clusters often show lighter, whitish bases where the crystal grew from the geode wall.
