Few things change a room the way an amethyst cathedral does when light finds the crystals inside.
This one opens to a hollow lined with purple points, and the back photo shows the outer rind so you can see both sides before you decide. Turn it toward a lamp or a spotlight and the crystal walls brighten; in lower light the purple deepens. It sits well on a console, an altar or a credenza where people can look into it at eye level, and it makes a lasting gift for a February birthday, a new home or a retirement.
An amethyst cathedral is a tall section of a geode, cut so it stands upright with its crystal lined hollow facing out. Amethyst is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation, and large amethyst geodes are mined mainly in Brazil and Uruguay.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
