Few pieces fill a console the way an amethyst cave does, and this one is nearly as wide as it is tall.
The base and front have both been cut flat, so the geode stands steady on its own and the crystal lined hollow faces straight out into the room. That broad, squarish shape suits a wide surface: a sideboard, a fireplace mantel, a low media cabinet or the floor beside a reading chair. It is heavy, which helps it stay put once placed. For a collector, it is a showpiece that looks finished from day one; for a new home or office, it gives a whole wall a focal point.
An amethyst cave is a section of a large geode, a hollow pocket in rock lined with purple quartz crystals that grew as mineral rich groundwater slowly deposited silica inside the cavity. In Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and neighboring Artigas, Uruguay, amethyst forms in large geodes within volcanic rock, and the two regions are among the largest amethyst producers in the world.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
