About Druzy Agate

Druzy is a crust of tiny crystals on a rock surface or the wall of a cavity. In agate it appears where the silica rich water ran too thin to fill the nodule, so small quartz crystals grew inward from the walls instead. The name agate traces back to the River Achates in Sicily.
