Red conglomerate jasper is a natural mosaic, made of pieces of red, tan, brown and black stone cemented together over time. Carved into a smooth wand, every one ends up with its own pattern.
It is solid and comfortable in the hand, so it works well for a slow hand or foot massage at the end of the day, as a worry stone to hold or as a striking piece on a shelf. The earthy colors suit rustic and Southwestern decor, and it makes a grounded, practical gift for someone who likes natural objects.
Choose 50 to 100 grams or 100 to 150 grams; the photos show the range of sizes. Some wands are thicker, thinner, taller or shorter, and no two patterns match.
Jasper is an opaque, fine-grained variety of silica colored by mineral inclusions; iron gives it red and brown tones. Conglomerate jasper is made of broken jasper fragments naturally cemented back together, which gives it a mosaic look. It is hard, at about 6.5 to 7, and takes a smooth polish.
Stone Meaning: Red jasper is traditionally associated with strength and grounding.
