Jewelry makers get sixteen pendant size agate cabochons in one lot, each with its own pocket of sparkly druzy crystals.
These are freeform natural agates, shaped and polished to a bright shine, and the mix includes pieces of pure chalcedony and pieces with agate banding. Colors are the stone's own browns, grays, whites and blacks or a combination, and some show inclusions. Every one has a druzy pocket that catches the light, which makes them ready for wire wrapping, bezel settings or glue on bails, and the size range of about 1.4 to 2.1 inches suits pendants. They also work for a cabochon collection, a craft stash or a gift for a jeweler friend. One photo shows the full lot next to a quarter for scale. You receive all sixteen cabochons shown.
The cabochons are about 1.375 to 2.125 inches by 1 to 1.75 inches and 0.25 to 0.375 inch thick. The lot weighs about 0.26 kilograms (9 ounces).
A cabochon is a stone that is shaped and polished rather than faceted, usually with a domed front and a flat back; the word comes from the Middle French caboche, meaning head. Agate is banded microcrystalline quartz, and druzy is a natural coating of tiny crystals that lines a cavity inside the stone. Agate is a hard, durable quartz, well suited to everyday jewelry.
Stone Meaning: Agate is traditionally associated with balance and stability.
