About Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz gets its brown to gray color when natural radiation acts on traces of aluminum in the quartz. It has a hardness of 7 and is the national gemstone of Scotland, where it is called cairngorm. Brazil supplies most commercial smoky quartz.
