This small, squared stick of natural selenite has a silky white glow and measures about 5 centimeters long and 15 to 20 millimeters wide.
Lay several around a crystal grid, set one on a windowsill or altar, slip one into a pocket or pouch, or use them in crafts. At this price they are easy to buy in multiples for party favors or gift bags.
Selenite is very soft and water sensitive, so keep it dry and handle it gently; the ends can chip if dropped. Each bar varies slightly in size and texture. A few bars laid side by side make a simple base for resting tumbled stones or jewelry overnight.
Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum, a hydrous calcium sulfate. With a Mohs hardness of only 2, it scratches easily and should be kept dry. Much of the silky white material sold as selenite is satin spar, the fibrous variety of gypsum.
Stone Meaning: Selenite is traditionally associated with cleansing and calm.
