Pyrite has fooled people into thinking they struck gold for centuries, which is how it got the nickname fool's gold. These square and rectangle cabochons are polished to show off that bright metallic shine.
Set one in a bezel ring or pendant for a bold, masculine look, use it in a crystal grid, or glue it into resin and mixed media work. Its golden shine gives small projects a warm metallic accent without real gold.
Each cabochon is about 10 to 26 by 15 to 20 millimeters, in square or rectangle shapes. Some photos are enlarged to show detail, so check the photo with a quarter for true size. Order a few to compare shapes side by side.
Pyrite is iron sulfide, the most common sulfide mineral, nicknamed fool's gold for its brassy color and metallic shine. Its name comes from the Greek word for fire, because it can spark when struck. It has a hardness of 6 to 6.5.
Stone Meaning: Pyrite is traditionally associated with confidence and abundance.
