A thick slice of purple agate geode with a tealight glowing in its center throws soft light through the banding, turning an ordinary candle into a small centerpiece.
Use one on a nightstand or altar, line several down a dinner table, or set them out at weddings and events where you want warm light with natural texture. When the candle is out, the slab still works as a small succulent planter or trinket holder.
Each slab weighs about 1.35 pounds and holds a standard tealight. Choose 1, 5 or 10 pieces. Thickness, shape and banding vary from slab to slab, so a set of five or ten will be a natural mix rather than identical copies.
Agate is a translucent form of microcrystalline quartz. Its bands form as silica is deposited layer by layer inside rock cavities, and some of those cavities become geodes. It has a hardness of 7, and because it is porous, most vividly colored agate is dyed.
