A pop of pink with real weight behind it. This pink agate geode bookend pair is cut from one rough agate geode, polished on both faces to show the banding and crystal pockets, and dyed a bright pink.
At 3 to 6 pounds for the pair, these are the lighter size in our range, ideal for a desk, nightstand, nursery shelf or a short row of paperbacks. The two halves mirror each other, so they look deliberate and balanced on either side of your books, and the natural outer rind gives a raw contrast to the polished faces.
Agate is a translucent form of microcrystalline quartz. Its bands form as silica-rich groundwater deposits layer after layer inside a rock cavity, and some of those cavities become crystal-lined geodes. At Mohs 7, agate is hard enough to polish to a glassy face. Because agate is slightly porous, it takes dye well, which is how the vivid colored bookends in the trade are made.
Do I get both bookends? Yes, you receive both halves of the geode as one matching pair.
Is the pink color natural? No. The agate is natural, but the pink color is dyed, which is standard for brightly colored agate.
