A substantial rod of raw black tourmaline, weighing about 4.5 to 6 ounces, shaped entirely by nature and direct from Brazil. Black tourmaline often forms long crystals with lengthwise striations.
Set it by the front door, on a desk or bookshelf, or anchor a crystal grid with it. It is also educational: tourmaline is piezoelectric and pyroelectric, meaning it generates a small electrical charge when squeezed or heated, a fun fact for curious kids and adults. Tourmaline is the October birthstone, which makes this a thoughtful gift.
Tourmaline is a group of boron silicate minerals with a Mohs hardness of 7 to 7.5. Black tourmaline, called schorl, is the most common variety. Its crystals typically grow as long prisms with striations running along their length.
Stone Meaning: Black tourmaline is traditionally associated with grounding and protection.
