Imagine holding a tooth from a sea predator that hunted the oceans at the same time T. rex walked on land. This is a real Mosasaurus tooth, collected from the phosphate deposits of Khouribga, Morocco, and left unrestored.
It is the kind of fossil that starts conversations: set it in a display box on a desk, add it to a fossil or shark tooth collection, or wire wrap it into a pendant. Fossil fans, history buffs and anyone who loved dinosaurs growing up tend to light up when they see one. Because each tooth is natural and millions of years old, you get a genuine piece of prehistory with its own wear and character, not a cast.
Each tooth is about 83 to 90 by 19 to 38 by 18 to 27 millimeters, though size varies from tooth to tooth; the photo in hand shows the scale. If you prefer a larger or smaller tooth, leave a note at checkout and we will do our best, though we cannot promise a match.
Despite the old nickname water dinosaur, Mosasaurus was not a dinosaur. It was a large marine reptile related to lizards and snakes that lived about 82 to 66 million years ago, in the Late Cretaceous. Its name means Meuse lizard, after the river near where the first fossils were found, and its teeth are well known from Moroccan phosphate deposits.
