Mexican onyx from Tehuacan, Mexico, is carved into these wavy bowls, each banded in soft yellow, cream and gray.
Place one on an entry table for keys, a vanity for jewelry, or a coffee table with a candle or crystals inside. They make a lovely housewarming or hostess gift. The soft banding in the stone makes each bowl look a little different.
Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Bowls are about 5.5 to 6.75 inches long, 5 to 5.75 inches wide and 1.5 to 1.6 inches tall, weighing 375 to 505 grams. Compare the banding and shape in each photo to choose yours.
Despite the name, Mexican onyx is not true onyx. It is banded calcite, sometimes called onyx marble. Calcite has a hardness of 3, so it carves easily and takes a soft polish.
Stone Meaning: Mexican onyx is traditionally associated with calm and clarity.
