Grape agate earned its name honestly, and this cluster is covered in countless tiny rounded formations in soft shades of purple, lavender and gray. Up close it looks almost edible.
It is a beautiful natural sculpture for a shelf or cabinet, and the botryoidal texture invites a closer look. A cluster like this makes a meaningful gift for a mineral collector or a lover of purple. This is the exact piece pictured, so what you see is what arrives. Turn it under a lamp and the tiny spheres catch the light one by one.
The ruler photo shows the size of this cluster. It is a natural formation, so expect small irregularities that add to its character.
Grape agate is botryoidal, or grape like, chalcedony, more precisely amethystine botryoidal chalcedony. It comes from the Manakarra area of Sulawesi, Indonesia, and is a relatively new find. Despite the name it is not true agate, because it lacks banding.
Stone Meaning: Grape agate is traditionally associated with calm and spiritual growth.
