Tiny 3 millimeter faceted gemstone beads add a fine sparkle to delicate jewelry. Each 15 inch strand holds about 111 to 145 beads, with 1 millimeter drill holes.
Choose black prehnite, dyed ruby, pyrite, labradorite or green onyx. Use them for dainty bracelets, layered necklaces, earrings, spacers and detailed beadwork. Thin wire or fine beading thread fits the small holes.
Some beads on a strand may be imperfect, which is normal for small faceted stones. The ruby option is dyed, and pyrite can tarnish with moisture, so keep finished pieces dry. Each strand varies in size, shape and color.
Pyrite is iron sulfide with a brassy metallic luster, rated 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Labradorite is a feldspar known for flashes of color. Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate rated 6 to 6.5.
