Dyed a rich green, this polished agate tower has a wide, flat profile that shows off its bands and crystal pockets edge to edge.
The agate itself is natural, and the green is a dye. Agate is porous, so dye takes up into the bands at different rates, which is why the color follows the stone's own pattern instead of sitting on top like paint. At about 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide, it is a bold accent for a desk, a bookshelf, a plant shelf or an office, and the green pairs naturally with houseplants and wood. It makes a memorable gift for a plant lover, a coworker or a collector of towers. This is the exact tower shown.
The tower is about 6 by 4 by 1.75 inches. Look at the bottom view photo to see its flat base.
Agate is a banded, translucent form of microcrystalline quartz that forms as silica is deposited in layers inside rock cavities. Because agate is porous, most vividly colored agate in the trade is dyed, and the dye follows the natural bands. The stone underneath is the same hard, durable quartz.
Stone Meaning: Agate is traditionally associated with balance and stability.
