Vibrant green fluorite crystals sit on a dark, metallic galena matrix in this small specimen from the Atacocha Mine in Cerro de Pasco, Peru. Pieces measure about 0.375 by 1.125 inches to 1.25 by 1.75 inches.
Display it in a collection, under a lamp or in a small case, or give it to a mineral collector who appreciates contrasting crystals.
Galena contains lead, so keep the specimen away from children and pets and wash your hands after handling it. Fluorite is soft and can chip. Each cluster varies in size and color.
Fluorite is calcium fluoride, found in green, purple and other colors. Galena is lead sulfide, the main ore of lead, with bright silver faces that can tarnish to gray.
