Chrysoprase is one of the few stones with a naturally bright apple-green color, and tumbling brings it to a smooth shine. This medium tumbled chrysoprase is sold by the piece, about three quarters of an inch to an inch and a half long.
Its size makes it a comfortable pocket or palm stone, and a few together look lovely in a small dish or vase. Add one to a gift bag, a crystal grid or a craft project. Expect natural variation, including lighter and darker greens and some brown or white inclusions.
Chrysoprase is a translucent green chalcedony, a microcrystalline quartz. Its color usually comes from traces of nickel. The finest material is mined in Queensland, Australia, and stones of even color are hard to find. Long exposure to strong sunlight or heat can fade it, so store it out of direct sun.
Stone Meaning: Chrysoprase is traditionally associated with compassion and renewal.
What gives chrysoprase its green color? Traces of nickel within the chalcedony.
Will chrysoprase fade? It can fade with prolonged sun or heat, so store it away from bright windows.
