DOOAK-S6-61
Small but full of color, this compact rough stone combines teal blue chrysocolla with bold green malachite, two copper minerals that formed together.
It is a smaller, chunkier piece, so it is easy to hold, turn under a lamp and appreciate the way the blue and green patches meet. Left rough, it keeps the natural texture it had in the ground. At about 2.5 inches, it fits into a display case, a desk corner or a shelf of mineral specimens without crowding. It makes a thoughtful gift for an artist, a collector or anyone who loves blue green stones. This is the exact specimen shown.
The specimen is about 2.5 by 2.5 by 2 inches. Look at the hand photo for scale.
Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate in shades of blue, cyan and green, and malachite is a green copper carbonate. Both form in the oxidation zones of copper deposits, often together with azurite and quartz. Malachite is soft, about 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, and chrysocolla can be softer still.
Stone Meaning: Chrysocolla is traditionally associated with communication and calm.
