DOOAK-S6-37
This rough stone pairs deep teal and turquoise blue chrysocolla with bold green malachite, two copper minerals that formed side by side.
The blue and green contrast is entirely natural, and it shifts as you turn the stone, from bright turquoise patches to deeper green areas. Left rough, it keeps the texture of how it formed in the oxidized zone of a copper deposit. At about 4 inches and 0.6 kilograms, it is a satisfying collector's specimen for a cabinet, a desk or a bookshelf. It makes a memorable gift for a mineral collector, an artist or anyone drawn to blue and green. This is the exact specimen shown.
The specimen is about 4 by 3.5 by 2 inches and weighs about 0.61 kilograms.
Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate in shades of blue, cyan and green, and malachite is a green copper carbonate. Both form in the oxidation zones of copper deposits, often together with azurite and quartz. Malachite is soft, about 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, and chrysocolla can be softer still.
Stone Meaning: Chrysocolla is traditionally associated with communication and calm.
