About Amethyst

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz with a hardness of 7. Its color comes from iron impurities and natural irradiation, and much of it forms as crystal linings inside volcanic geodes in Brazil and Uruguay. Some amethyst can fade with long exposure to direct sunlight.
