Pink Optical Calcite Piece - One of a Kind, 5 In

Calcite clear enough to look through is a small marvel to hold up to the light.

This piece has a soft pink tint through clear calcite, a little different from the colorless optical calcite most shops carry. It is a good size for the hand and for a shelf, so you can pick it up, look through it and set it back down where the sun hits. Optical calcite earns a spot in mineral collections because of how it treats light, and a pink one makes a thoughtful gift for someone who already owns the usual clear or orange calcite.

About Optical Calcite

Calcite is calcium carbonate. Clear, optical grade calcite is known as Iceland spar and is famous for double refraction, which makes a line seen through it appear doubled. Calcite cleaves into rhombohedral shapes and is soft, 3 on the Mohs scale, so it scratches easily.

Stone Meaning: Calcite is traditionally associated with balance and focus.
