Rounded, grape-like bubbles cover these botryoidal hematite specimens, giving them a textured, metallic surface unlike polished hematite. Each flat box holds about 50 to 90 freeform pieces, depending on their sizes.
Specimens range from about 0.625 by 1.125 inches to 1.5 by 4.5 inches, so you get a mix of small pocket pieces and larger display pieces. Stock a booth or shop, build collector kits, fill display bowls, or share them with a rock club.
Hematite is very dense, so a full box is heavy. It is rated 5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale and leaves a reddish streak, so keep it off light fabrics and pale surfaces. Each piece varies in size and form.
Hematite is iron oxide, silver-gray to black with a metallic luster, and it always leaves a reddish streak. Botryoidal means grape-like, from the Greek for cluster of grapes, and describes its rounded, bubbly growth form.
Stone Meaning: Hematite is traditionally associated with grounding and focus.
