Amethyst Crystal Bowl Carved from Raw Cluster - Rough Stone Bowl, 9.5 In

What happens when a carver leaves the crystals in place? You get this amethyst bowl, cut into a raw cluster so the natural points still bristle around the outside.

Inside, the bowl is carved and polished to a smooth finish, so the piece is half rough stone and half finished carving, and that contrast is the whole appeal. At about 9.5 inches long it is roomy enough to hold tumbled stones, a few keepsakes or nothing at all on a console or entry table. It is semi polished rather than fully polished, which keeps the raw amethyst points looking natural. For a February birthday or someone who already owns a few amethyst clusters and wants something different, it is a good fit. This is the exact amethyst bowl shown.

The bowl is about 9.5 by 5 by 3 inches. A ruler photo shows the length.

About Amethyst

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz. Its color comes from trace iron exposed to natural radiation, and it is the modern birthstone for February. Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Zambia are among the largest producers.

Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
