Clear Quartz Point with Carbon Phantoms - One of a Kind, 7.5 Inch

This clear quartz point has ghostly dark outlines of earlier crystals inside it, phantoms that record the stages of its growth.

These phantoms are marked by natural black carbon inclusions, so the story of how the crystal formed is visible right through the quartz. At 7.5 inches tall, it stands out on a desk, a bookshelf or in a collection, and it looks best with light behind it. It is a fascinating gift for a science lover, a collector or anyone who likes crystals with a story. Phantom quartz forms when a crystal pauses its growth, gets a light dusting of another mineral, and then keeps growing over it. This is the exact point shown.

The point is about 7.5 by 3 by 2 inches and weighs about 0.74 kilograms.

About Phantom Quartz

Phantom quartz has visible layers of overlapping crystal growths. The inner outlines, called phantoms, show because of changes in composition or mineral inclusions at the boundaries between growth stages. In this piece the phantoms are marked by dark carbon inclusions.

Stone Meaning: Phantom quartz is traditionally associated with growth and reflection.
