Some amethyst pieces are best shown upright, and this one with calcite comes with the stand that holds it.
Calcite often crystallizes in the same geode pockets after the amethyst, and it adds a second mineral and texture to the purple. The stand pictured is included, so the piece arrives ready for a home office, a living room shelf or a meditation room. Measured with the stand, it is about 11 inches by 4 inches, a tall, narrow shape that fits on a mantel or bookshelf without crowding it. It makes an exceptional gift for a February birthday, a new home or a mineral collector who likes combination specimens. This is the exact piece and stand shown.
With its stand, the piece is about 11 by 4 inches.
About Amethyst with Calcite
Amethyst is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation. Calcite, calcium carbonate, often crystallizes later in the same geode pockets, leaving calcite crystals perched on the purple points. Calcite is much softer than quartz, 3 on the Mohs scale, so those areas deserve gentler handling.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
